THE LAW IN THE WORKS! wh40K future plans

so with adeptus arbites returning to the game last year first with a killteam expansion then as a stand alone killteam squad box finally you can (without resorting to hard core conversions or breaking the bank for metals) actually build up a force of arbites and gw even gave away a free model. but you already know all that so let’s end the recap and start my plans

PLANS!:

so while i am not sure if i will get to making a crowd control sentinel due to how costly the model will be vs it’s lack of rules (i know i mentioned the idea something like half a decade ago but who knows someone might have seen that post before this one) so from there the goal can be devided into two parts:

  1. SQUADS:
    – Suppression squad/vigilant squad:
when gw were giving away the free arbites mini I may or may not have visited multiple gw stores which resulted in me having 6 or 7 shotgun arbites, which isn’t enough to run the squad at so they sat in backlog till i could find just the parts i needed to complete the unit through bits sellers. that time has come and so i am acumulating the parts i need to finish the build

    – riot bois/Subductor squad:
later this year i will buy a full box of the extraction squad with the express purpose of building them up as a shield wall squad. after all one of the most iconic images mentally of arbites is a riot shield and shock maul arbites.

    – specialists squad/exaction squad:
so with the extraction squad box being built as subductors that will leave most of the specialists parts free to be turned into the members of an axaction squad. ontop of allowing my to form a mini army of arbites this also means I will have the option for a lot of units to use in killteam if i do actually start that game but more over it gives me options for running an imperial agents army if rules eventually allow that or if I home brew something.

Also I am planning one gearing up to actually turn my motly rhino box full of cultists into full a functioning genestealer cult army so why not have genestealer cults face off against arbites and an inquisitor at in a smaller sized game. But I said there would be two parts to these plans and so
  2. TERRAIN: arbites precinct:
so back in the early 2000s gw’s white dwarf team made an arbites precinct using fw bunkers and lots of scratch building and while it was cool, it’s style doesn’t really fit what i picture an arbites station looking like, enter the Dredd movie and what scenes we got from it of the hall of justice gave me some cool cues, i don’t want a sky scraper but i do want a big armoured precinct with a front entrance that is remanicant of what we saw on screen but also of parliament house in my own state as both are symbols of authority though despite what some might have said in 2020 i wouldn’t consider my state to be anything even remotely as authoritarian as judges and political system in dredd, that world’s political system had in many sense collapsed.

so i will be dividing the project into several sections because that will honestly make it easier to do:
  • observation tower and landing pad:
so there are many depictions of sci-fi police having a landing pad ontop of or protruding from their tower. the tower will of course bear the insignia of the arbites and a version of the aquila, though making it strong enough to bear the wieght of a plastic wargaming gunship will be a task, atleast i don’t own any resin ones i would want to put atop it
  • precinct walls:
devided into two structure types wall section and watch tower these walls at my present thinking will have removeable roofs to allow for playable corridors and the placement of ranged troops in relative safety. the towers will also need to have removable roofs so as to place observers in them, though making working spotlights will be an interesting task. out of all of the parts I want the corridors to be lit and i might try and do fold down windows so as to allow for playability and display
  • entrances:
there will be two main entrances the aforementioned front stairs and the back motorpool entrance that’ll allow for the arbites to deploy vehicles in the event i do convert vehicles for them but also because a force like the arbites do maintain some measure of armour depending on what book your read

these projects are also inteded to be the focuse of youtube videos so I hope you’ll join me for it

my thoughts and aims around paragon warsuits

It’s been a while since i shared a hobby goals post but here we are! so thanks to their being part of the imperium magazine I will (assuming no issues go missing) end up with two squadrons of them for about the price of 1. this will give me a solid core of them to work from both on an army building and conversion building level. but the eventual goal is to run three squads and moren vahl in an army but that isn’t an imidiate goal as I have a lot going on, but i do want to get back onto the table top and running a sisters mech-front army feels like a good way to do that.

on a conversions front:

  • first up I want to bulk out atleast part of the arms as they both feel too thin (especially the upper arm on the heavy weapons side)
  • second and more drastic i want to make a cathedral window style front hatch that covers the pilot. it might make the suit look more like something from warmachine but i feel that the pilot shouldn’t be exposed to the elements and more importantly enemy fire in a way that looks very sisters-ish, i also want to have lights inside it to have light coming out of the stained glass
  • third I want the poses to be more dynamic

so we’ll see how i go with this. i might well do conversions of the first two squads in quite mode with the ocasional post on here and then when i am up to doing the 3rd squad around the end of the year I might do a video on it or atleast a showcase at the very end of the process of the converted models but we’ll see

MARCH of the knights – youtube content plans for march 2024 (updated)

week 1:

week 2:

week 3:

  • con crunch begins video
  • warhammer speculation and reaction video
sorry i planned on more videos going up this week but life said no

week 4:

  • my reaction to this week’s pre orders announcement
  • wh aos stormbringer issue 1 review
  • how i base my: Imperial knights (knight crusader pt:1
  • knight crusader review (knight crusader pt:2)
  • con month crunch log 2: the 1st con starts today!

week 5:

  • knight gallant showcase
  • omnissiah axe build log!
  • restoring my 8 year old imperial knight
  • con coverage
  • I’ve wanted this figure for 20 years – unboxing and review video

all of these are reliant on outside factors or less likely than other videos

for those who either checked older versions of this log or are wondering about knight armigers pt:2 it will be coming in future rather than rushing the models to get them done in addition to my con crunch and trying to get my knight paladin done

okay so at present these are the goals for this month outside factors may put downward preasure on my time that reduces the number of videos I can do. it is also worth noting I am a solo operation who is doing this for content for free

faithful feburary youtube content

greetings faithful of the immortal emperor of mankind this month’s content focus is on sisters of battle both interms of miniatures content and cosplay content

feb week 1 (half week)

anyway I have been tweeking my plans around and these are the current videos that are in the works.
I have had to drop some video plans (and have removed them from the list) due to life and my disabilities getting in the way. I also have a big month ahead of me with march as both i am wanting to get imperial knights painted up (or in some cases just converted) and also get a whole lot of cosplay stuff together for cons near the end of march and two events in april. so things in this one woman band of mine are going to get rather mental workload wise

Churgeon Malcavor Quenn lore

Archiver log: heroes of the Verkandis Crusade, Hektarian folder,

Churgeon Malcavor.

Exif_JPEG_420

In war we memorialise and idolise those whom take lives in the defense of others or in the service of greater causes we deem just! The subject of today’s entry not only has taken many lives in service of the throne but also has saved many as well!

The Churgeon Malcavor started out his illustrious life in a relatively humble manner, he was born in the upper hives on hektari 2 to loving parents Mira and Calan. Born as the second child his childhood was spent as many in the upper start, a mixture of faith and what play can be found in places too serious for children. When he was five his older brother Jonas slipped on the stairs up to his family’s apartment falling down near fatally landing in front of malcavor and his mother on the hard brass of the stairs several flights below where he’d slipped. Malcavor watched in equal parts horror and fascination as an off duty medicae saved his sibling. This experience would have a profound experience on malcavor. But this was not the only life altering experience the youth would go through as before reaching adulthood a gang war from the underhive would spill over into the upper hives and he would witness his parents give their lives to defend him from a violent criminal before and enforcer would arrive to save him and his brother. Without parents they were taken in by the hive’s govenor and given the choice of a life of service in army, medicine or administration. Still traumatised by the violence of loosing their parents they both chose medicine.

Both boys would be trained in all the medical arts their minds could handle but as is the custom in system they were also trained in martial matters and Jonas would be assigned to a guard regiment as a medic while Malcavor would remain on hektarii 2 undergoing further training and the first of his medical augmentations earned through saving the life of a prominent nobleman whom had foolishly stepped into the path of a vehicle while absentmindedly talking with another noble. But his actions were a double edged sword as while he had been rewarded for his service by the noble he would later be tarnished by the noble’s actions when the noble was found to be embezzling funds and weapons meant for a pdf regiment to his own personal forces. As the noble’s allies and underlings were all punished or merged into other forces and houses Malcavor would be sent off to hektarii 3 to serve in it’s pdf as a prison medicae tending to labourers sent from hektarii 2 to work growing foods to feed the system. While this was intended as a punishment it also served as a gift as Malcavor had long sort to escape the political games of the nobles and experience an actual sky with his own eyes.

On hektarii 3 malcavor would earn his keep with the pdf and earn more medical cybernetic upgrades when he saved the life of a prisoner whom turned out to be both the governors son and in by mistake but in so doing malcavor would earn a reputation for being quick to anger among the prisoners when he lashed out with is medical cybernetic limbs that are mounted to his back when prisoners got too close as he worked often with fatal results for those foolish enough to get close. After this experience he would work to make prisoners as scared of him as possible so that he could do his work in peace under minimal guard as when in danger he found his mechanical extra limbs to be much quicker than slow witted troopers dulled by over exposure to agri chemicals and inaction.

When the orks came to Hektarii 3 his place of work would become one of the first battle grounds as a massive xenos filled asteroid would come crashing through the facility’s roof totalling much of it. Malcavor would prove his skill in a fight dispatching several xenos during his exodus from the facility under the order of it’s commander. As the pdf made to exit it would be malcavor who’d suggest to the commander to bring the prisoners with them as their labour may yet be needed and their numbers made for an effective shield if nothing else. Whether it was his words or unspoken contingency orders the prisoners would be herded into bulk troop conveyance vehicles that were normally intended to transport involuntary the labourers to other facilities or for discharge. The pdf’s troops would barely have time to coral the prisoners into the vehicles and get their own troop vehicles started when the orks started to fall upon them bursting through the main entrance into the motor hanger. The melee would only end when a pdf Carnadon rolled into position and fired indiscriminately into the direction of the doorway shredding everything ork and human in it’s path under a barrage of rapidly spat laser fire, allowing for the pdf to clean up the surviving attackers in the hanger and make an exit. With the roars of the xenos echoing through the facility behind them the pdf boarded the now started vehicles and started to leave their home of many years as drab and dirty as it was.

It did not take long for more orks to come spilling out of the facility behind them and they were barely on the bridge that connected the facility’s island to the mainland when the first bullets started to ricochet off the hulls of tanks. But it mattered not for across the bridge lay the mainland and most importantly a control station for the bridge that would allow the pdf to isolate the island. With the several kilometre bridge retracted the xenos would be trapped on the island, imprisoned their by the severely acidic sea that surrounded the prison and was the result of millennia of chemical runoff into the planet’s ocean from it’s numerous agri farms. The orks however were not done with the pdf yet as a hoard of them emerged from the now burning prison riding hideous wide mouthed beasts seeking to give chase to the humans seeking the safety of the mainland. With the xenos gaining Malcavor would join in with the pdf forces shooting at the xenos on their tail though the fire of a hand full of lasguns and light weight projectile weapons wouldn’t have much of an effect against the fast approaching enemy. That would change however as the pdf neared the end of the bridge as the road deck behind the bridge exploded in shrapnel as gun turrets guarding the bridge’s main land exit opened fire. The turrets had been placed their in the event the prison became overrun during a riot and while they lacked the power to do much to the bridge it’s self they did succeed in raining a mountain of razor wire and sharp fragments upon the bridge which proceeded to snare and injure both the xenos beasts and riders. As loud xenos roars echoed from the bridge the pdf exited the bridge and it’s collapse protocol was triggered causing the beasts to be drowned in and eaten alive by the highly acidic waters.

While the pdf and malcavor had made it to safety it would be short lived as the bright streaks of meteors would fill the sky promising more xenos filled asteroids in the near future. The war for hektari 3 had begun and though only being a churgeon and medic Malcavor would be drawn into it as his combat skills in the prison had caught the attention of his commanding officer whom would pass word up his chain of command which saw malcavor assigned to many front line combat operations and even saw him awarded with a bolter and a powered axe from the pdf’s armoury after he saved a mission of importance to hektari 3’s governor.
Malcavor would continue to earn much honor on the field and save many lives off the field as well. But his fate was not to remain on hektarii 3 as after forces from the neighbouring world arrived and crushed the xenos he would be permanently assigned to one of the regiments that had liberated their world along with the much of the pdf forces infantry and armour. The regiment which would come to be his new home would then be dispatched to hektari 5 to break an ork siege and purge the xenos’ military forces before being dispatched out of system to join the wider military operation in the sub sector known as the Verkandis Crusade. At Malcavor Quenn and the 903rd are en-route to the liberation of Forgeworld Armoured Shell in the Pyranis system from an ork invasion, they will be joined by numerous other regiments including the Aquileia 70th rifles, two companies of the World Shields Space Marine chapter, knights from house Banksia, returning forces of skitarii from Forgeworld Armoured Shell and a maniple of titans from Legio Echidna.

thanks for reading this far I hope you enjoyed. I look forward to sharing more hektarian lore as the year goes on

I return!

and so I am back from my medical situation and recovery holiday. now as I am still not fully up to strength I am going to be taking things slowly. in part that means working on things I want to work on, thankfully most of the projects I am doing are ones I want to do rather than just things i am doing because my armies need them (that is partly why the outrider sentinel project keeps being left at the wayside because while i do want to do it at the same time part of me gets intimidated by it and the amount of problem solving required with it to make everything work and talk to each other.

later in the year part of me wants do a melee and armour focused version of this build where the commissar ogryn has carapace armour under his coat, a brute maul and brute shield. because sometime you WANT your command squad to charge into the fray with your other assault troops, though that command squad may not be of gw make, always plans are in motion and I will not yet spoil that surprise. but before I do that ogryn conversion I have another ogryn related plan in the works that will be shared in due time (if i haven’t already spoiled it in another post

I also am working on changing my workspace to be more usable as right now a lot of stuff is crammed into a space in a disorganized manner that is not contusive to doing anything, this has been because of necessity due to how chaotic things have been for me. I also am maybe going back to the 111 plan relating to cosplay, conversion building and terrain making but time will tell if that happens.

what i can say is I am not going to talk much about specific projects till they are done so as not to disappoint people. at the same time even if i only end up showing of the final product that ogryn commissar conversion seen above is going to be a video and it’s the only tease of what is to come this month that i will share. that being said w.i.p posts will probably remain a thing because sometimes sharing what you are working on as you work on it can be motivating, but sharing your whole plans is not good for actually archiving them i have learned and when i can’t do them it causes disappointment in those you told

anyway thanks for watching and know that i am doing alright now, hopefully even on the mend

Commissar Yarrick conversion build pt:1

Hi all so after saying I would do it for ages I finally have started conversion building my first Commissar Yarrick

So here is a pic of most of the bits

bits list for this build:

  • plastic commissar 2014 kit: arms, hat, bolt pistol hand
  • tempestus scion torso
  • sister of battle serephim bolt pistol hand (trimmed behind the hand)
  • stormbolter + stormbolter magazine
  • cadian command squad scarred head, gasmask
  • ravenwing biker holstered bolt pistol (yarrick carried a lot of weapons)
  • ork power klaw from an ork nob
  • chaos cultist (2012) autogun cultist legs
  • 2 skitarii arc pistols
  • tempestus scion banner icon

so first up I too the cultist who’d be “donating” legs for this project and cut him in half at the waist! then i took a scion torso and cut off the leg guarding flaps, the antenna and shoulder light

then I went ahead and shaved the details off the torso plate as those details felt too busy on a model that will in the end be quite busy and if need be I can come back and put a winged skull on the chest of the armour or even lift a refractor field panel off a classic cadian torso. i then attached a holstered pistol to the legs as yarrick is a tad over armed, the pistol was a ravenwing one i’d got from a bits seller years ago.

head:
seeing that the plastic commissar’s cybernetic eye was on the wrong side of the head to work for yarrick I had to look for an alternative head and eventually settled on a scarred head from the soon to be oop cadian command squad kit. I did have to do a lot of trimming to combine the two pieces which also included attaching the commissar’s face onto his head before removing the face below the brim of the hat so as to attach it onto the afore mentioned cadian head. the head was glued into the carapace on an angle that i hoped meant he’d be looking at the foe but i should have waited till near the end to put the head in the model. I also chose to use a cadian command squad respirator which was only held on with blue tack as it wouldn’t be attached until much much later on.

right arm:
I then removed the right arm from the commissar body and trimmed back the details back on the arm so as to have as little of the shoulder as possible. I also chopped the arm off a little after the elbow and attached the outside edge of the arm so as to complete the augmetic look of the elbow then went and cut down the outer edge of the arm to match with the arm. Then i trimmed the ork arm off the nob power claw and trimmed up the claw to make it suitable to connect to the commissar arm before attaching the right arm into the carapace.

left arm
the left arm was a lot less work as it was a separate piece from the commissar’s torso front. firs i removed the commissar’s sword hand from their arm so as to accommodate a storm bolter. for the hand I took a spare serephim (sisters of battle) left hand (the rest of the spare serephim bits might appear in a future project) and cut the hand off at the wrist as I would need a left hand to hold a storm bolter with. as for the storm bolter it was quite a process because sister of battle squad storm bolters are missing details on the side that face the body namely molded ammo magazine details on the inside face which normally isn’t a problem but it meant cannibalizing an extra storm bolter’s magazine to complete the details. I also shaved off the ministorm icon from the weapon as it isn’t suitable for the guard. after this i would attach the storm bolter to the left arm then attach the left arm onto the body, after this I attached in a purity seal that carefully removed from a space simulacrum imperialis I had aside

and so the model is now in two pieces

by means of tack i stuck put the top and bottom halves of the model together for pictures ahead of doing greenstuff work

then I went to do the first round of greenstuff work to add some mass in under his carapace at the waist so it would sit on the legs, added his waistband, filled a few gaps (sadly not all of them) and sculpted his las-eye after all what is old bale eye without his means of sniping orks by just looking at them.

then I set up his final melee weapon his sheathed sword which was a process for sure. it was made from a sister of battle power sword sheath, the handguard from the bane blade commander’s powersword and for the handgrip I use some of the rope from a cadian command squad banner. I also then went ahead and bend pvc rod into a curve and cut it to length to attach it into the yet to be sculpted powerpack

next I conversion built the powerpack for the power claw starting with a pair of skitarii arc pistols I removed their power chamber from the top of them. i then attached them together longs sides together and did a little gap filling on the underside and on one end with plastic card so as to both make it look more complete and also to stop greenstuff from coming up and clogging the details from underneath.

I also trimmed back his augmetic eye a bit as it was looking in the wrong direction. then I bit the bullet and pulled out the greenstuff again so as to fill a gap I had missed but mainly to sculpt the body of his power pack. getting the shape right took ages especially as I needed to also get the twin arc chambers integrated into the greenstuff. I also stuck a winged skull taken from a scion banner icon (I trimmed the smallest one off it) into the greenstuff to add some detail to the top of the pack as it looked a bit plain.

then i went back in with a shaper to smooth things out, raise the height of the backpack and add some base coupling detail around the join points of the power hoses from the claw.

Then I added a pre primed purity seal from a penitent engine (I primed one of the two models on sprue to save time) to the power claw and so once the greenstuff is cured i will move onto priming and painting the model but that’s for another time. before i go i just wanted to share another miniature i have built this time entirely out of spares and left over parts. I present to you an unnamed company commander:

I am going to need to go in with greenstuff and fill a few gaps but otherwise here he is

Conversion built master of ordinance

okay so while I have mentioned about this build in other posts here it is!

here is the video I have done on the project if you would rather look at photos instead keep scrolling as they will be below the video on this post:

build pics:

base model built:

holo table detail built. it id made from a superglue lid, an internal piece from a either a watergun or a dispenser cut down and lots of bicarb and superglue. inside the base of the holo table is clear plastic to allow the model to tower details to stick to it

everything primmed:

holo projection base coated

base coats all laid in and details added

decals added

the sources with the decals were mostly the cadian infantry squad kit but the black aquila came from the sentinel kit. I figured better a black aquila than a damaged one.

anyway I hope you like the build

hobby projects end of September

Okay so this month has been kind of a mess for me partly due to mental health and partly due to trying to get stuff together for an event that at the last minute I found out I couldn’t attend and also heard bad things about from people who went. but this month has seen my get some stuff done and here are projects I am. sorry about the brightness in some of these images, i have attempted to tone down the brightness with an image editor but these were taken at night with flash mode on my phone so they aren’t great

On a miniatures front I mainly have had two pathlines with working on models = purely for me vs partly for youtube content.

okay so starting with the model i am purely doing for me:
IMPERIAL GUARD MASTER OF ORDINANCE with plotting tabl

the above pic is the model just primed and based black

base coat of the holo projection painted on, the badly lit work space makes this look like the plastic is green but actually that is just dark angels green gw paint. since this pic I have started adding in the lighter coloured grid pattern though I might go over that with a micron pen to further knock in the grid pattern. i have also painted on the base colours of my hektarian regiment’s uniform including painting his helmet over his butt gold. i will need to go back and further work on the skin and fine details but other than that here is how it is coming along. the money i would have spent on con tickets for an event that i sadly wasn’t able to attend instead went into this model which the base model of a nexos took weeks to arrive at my preferred Friendly local game store (flgs)

Exif_JPEG_420

models for youtube content:
Ursula Chenkova, Svargan Colonel
okay so the first one shouldn’t be too big of a surprise since I have talked about it but for those who don’t know i am in the process of working on Ursula Chenkova, Svargan Colonel by victoria miniatures that I got free at random when i ordered a squads 2 pack off their ebay (i probably should have messaged them to say a model i actually wanted included but ah well mistakes happen) and on the subject of mistakes while cleaning it I lost one of the arm halves and so instead of just building and painting the model it has become a conversion building project. instead of being a mini review this instead is going to be a mini rescue video though my laptop isn’t all that powerful so I am not sure if the footage i have recorded of the build will be all that useful to me over just saying what i am doing

model 2: toxic wastes guardsman

so for a long time I have talked about how the old 2012 chaos cultists kit was really good for converting flavorful imperial models and if I haven’t been all that open about it well there i have said it. anyway I initially built this model up to use as a visual aid for a video on the september 2012 issue of white dwarf which was an issue about the launch of dark vengeance. Sadly between lighting issues and my laptop not being powerful I have had to abandon the original recordings and 20 minute version of that white dwarf retrospective and instead do a shorter under 9 minute version which is more concise. Though the benefit of this is that now that previously unpainted visual aid is now painted and i have retrieved a few others out of storage as I have done many things with cultists over the years including street militia, uniformed guardsmen, ministorum crusaders and even tech priests

Cosplay projects:
Erza Scarlet heart kreuz
okay so my main hobby project this month has been my erza scarlet cosplay which I initially started back in 2019 and got to a wearable if very incomplete state. well with a con coming up I pulled the parts of the armour out of storage and was attempting to rebuild the torso armour so that it actually fits me, sadly I wasn’t done in time for the event and at this rate might come with me to pax aus if i go although i already have three costumes planned for that event though with the exception of my sister of battle cosplay it is the closest to being worn. sadly as I write this the costume is too incomplete to show off and with my models taking up the same table as my sewing machine progress on the costume is on hold though that is also because I needed to buy some more zippers for the costume so as to make getting in and out of the costume easy but also to better work out the shape and fit of it as i go so i am not hacking into detail work to make the armour comfortable.

with pax aus coming up though I should have more cosplay projects in the works and with the genshin impact second anniversary coming up like next week I also have some stuff in the works for it too (as usually I am doing that for free as I am too small of a presence online for anyone to pay me to make stuff for them, who knows if that will change.

in closing here are my amended plans for youtube:
september:
– tf legacy cybertron override review
– custom AM master of ordinance showcase
– white dwarf 393 retrospective
– rescuing an incomplete ice warriors guard commander
– skyrim imperial legion sword and shield build

october:
– updating an old hydra/wyvern conversion build
– genshin impact inspired model build
– genshin impact inspired cosplay prop build
– erza scarlet cosplay build video
– I started building a wh40k battlefield while homeless here is how far I got/ budget industrial terrain tiles for 40k/sw legion/
– sister of battle cosplay (2019 – 22 ver) build log 1: the main armour
– pax aus cosplay coverage
– cannoness varydian review
– mcfarlane toys sister of battle order of the bloody rose version review

november:
– sister of battle cosplay (2019 -22 ver) build log 2: adding light

Cannoness on grav pulpit/lectern update

okay so back at the end of 2019 I started on building a grav pulpit Cannoness for my sisters of battle. with none of the plastic range avalible at that point beyond the contents of an expensive box that was out of my price range I started getting to work.

– the core of the pulpit is taken from a piece of a broken toy lightsaber i got back in highschool. Before this model I built a grav pulpit for a ministorum priest (originally one with a mace and relic thing that used to be a named character in the sisters army till 7th ed or 8th ed. that was till I procured a few of the blackstone fortress one during 2020.

so above you can see far I got with the core of the pulpit built with my setting the wire cores up which I intended to cover with greenstuff to look like relic script sheets that double as a stand for it. on the underside of the pulpit there is a cut up swivel mount from a rhino kit (the one designed for predator turrets, razorback twin guns and whirlwind launchers to slot into) to act as a mount for me to mount a twin heavy flamer into. unlike the first pulpit one of the things I set up was dedicated heavy flamers which I kit bashed from what was once a pair of twin linked lascannons which I then converted into a quad lascannon for an abandoned landraider spartan conversion build I wanted to do back in 2014. so basically I took the quad las and chopped it back to just below the end of the lascannons then covered it with plastic card:

as for the Heroine who was going to be surfing atop it I knew back in 2019 that i wanted to conversion built the model from bits in the then yet to release range. the first piece i settled on for the model before anything else was the stained glass window helmet of the organist on the new plastic exorcist which I managed to procure at the start of 2020. After that i knew i wanted to use the round backpack icon from the retributor superior along with her book arm and mace arm. I intended to make a four pronged mace in similar vain to my old cosplay brazier maul:

and then life transpired to cause me to both loose track of the project’s main parts for more than a year after having to pack up and move out of a place in a hurry causing me to loose track of a lot of things. this build would languish in storage for more than a year and a half. But after moving into another place after spending that year and a half couch surfing this project came to be the top of my list of things to work on and so I found and pulled the bits for this out of storage along with a box that included my sisters of battle bits box.

so going through my bits box I conversion built the cannoness for the grav podium. here is the model before it is painted

okay so this is where the model is at for now. I will share more in future as I get more done on this build but before I can get too much more done on the build I will need to test out my greenstuff to see if it has gone lumpy in the two years since I bought it (if it is still good at all) and if it is bad I may have to get a new pack of it but finding it for a reasonable price will be a challenge going off pricing on ebay. Anyway thanks for reading this far I do look forward to sharing more on this and other projects soon.

admech diaries: 0 the starting point of my admech force

if you follow my blog you probably have seen mentions of this (and maybe even a breakdown of the idea and episode suggestions) well here is my start

I will share more soon but in a change of plans my first episode will be on making air support since the weather at the moment is well suited to working on mdf models

cristine the imperial saint of death

so in that past i have talked abit out this build and mainly about wanting to do it and well now i can say it has been done! and i even have some pics from during the process that i can share

the scythe was made using the scythe from the “Collegiate Arcane Mystic Battle Wizards” set and the pole arm from a simulacrum imperialis from a battle sisters squad box. it is pinned for strength (both the two pieces of the scythe and when attached onto celestine’s elbow (I removed her gauntlet as it was in the way)

the unpainted detail on the base is two parts: a sculpted cobblestone texture done with miliput then roughly cut into a circle with celestine’s scroll stands glued down then rubble applied in the form of clumping clay catlitter which is hard glued down with lots of superglue (pva glue doesn’t usually work with this type of catlitter due to biology.
so here is my showcase video on the model that I may redo when I have gotten around to converting up gemini as the lighting on it was terrible

my plan on the gemini:
in lore her gemini were a pair of cannonesses (I think they were sisters but I haven’t read gathering storm cadia stands (cadia falls) in like 5 years) who fell defending the shield generator from a greater demon who went straight through them. but they were what sisters of battle still don’t have JUMP PACK CANNONESSES! so of course I want to rework the models to look more appropriate for their lore and thankfully i have a rather decent bits collection helped by procuring other people’s bits too so i will share more on that in future

thank you for reading

also wordpress has changed their platform around again and i am having trouble putting posts into specific topics (wouldn’t surprise me if they locked that behind a paid account like so many other things end up being across the internet

from warhammer quest cursed city to warhammer 40k upcoming conversion build – conversion build log

so as cursed city warhammer quest game approached I saw some amazing models with some really cool conversion possibilities for them. then cursed city sold out and it turned out gw may have pranked us all on it being a permanent part of their range. Initially I was going to leave this post in drafts until I one day deleted it as I doubted I would actually get my hands on any of the models from it as ebay sellers are usually pretty unreasonable, but all that changed last night when i was able to get my hands on one of the minis from it via ebay. Assuming the model doesn’t get lost in the mail and that lockdown doesn’t last forever I will be able to retrieve it from my mail point and get to work on doing a conversion of it.

with this conversion i decided to do rough drawings of my ideas, copyright for the offical design goes to gw but my art is mine.

tech priest maniplus built from torgillius the chamberlain

I will update this post later on when i have progress on the model to share (same story as with my other conversion logs and this post may be expanded to include other cursed city models if I procure more of them with the intent of conversion

progress update: Sledgehammer bfg

so here is where the sledgehammer bfg and crew. I need to locate where the plastic commander is but the resin replacement crew are primed. I am thinking I am just going to paint the original crew like they are standing in mud, as for the resin crew’s base I am going to add some virgin* cat litter onto their bases maybe with bits of chopped up sprue or plastic to look like debris the Victoria miniatures commissar’s base is the inspiration for a wider theme for my army but i may paint it a darker tone

so I have mentioned that I learned how to do decent heavy rust effects while working on this model in the past so here is the results:

so there are afew more things i am going to do to this artillery piece before it is done (namely cleanup the blue on the gun, fix up the metal paintwork on the crane’s shell cage and tow reels on the front but otherwise the gun is mostly done. as for the infantry they will be painted to match up with my hektarian pdf

* virgin refers to the produce being brand new and syphoned from the bag before the rest of the bag was used for it’s intended purpose

anyway thank you for reading and I’ll catch you later

Victoria Miniatures Commissar progress showcase + paint guide

So when I got my Sledgehammer BFG kit (and some other things) I scored a commissar with it so you lucky lot get to see my unboxing, review and showcase (video is linked) and a showcase gallery showing the progress steps this model went under from primed model through to final details where I also share what I did for each step! so my plan with the model is to do a more classic red coat rather then the more common red, but it will be a darker red, i also am going to make it look very different from the priest model i just did recently
product shot:

primed stage: vallejo surface primer black (I don’t often spray paint stuff due to too strong winds in my area and my housemate being chemical sensitive so I chose to just continue priming with a brush)

base coat 1: okay so after priming it I base coated it in citadel chaos black before moving onto the true base coats
base coat 2: citadel steel legion drab on the coat and side trims of the hat
base coat 3: citadel steel legion drab mixed with citadel mophiston on a wet pallet with a very tiny almost dry dot of citadel naggaroth night, this is to provide a base for red paint on the coat, but damn do I love this colour it looks like really good leather, I’ll have to remember that for future with a rogue model for dnd

then I used that same red and brown on my pallet but pulled in more of the red to make deep red that i stippled onto the coat back I also started applying some of the trim for the collar which is going to be citadel kaldor blue as will the main uniform tunic

and started in the front of the model mixing in some black with the brown mix for the inside of the coat. I also applied some thinned down and remixed gw celestra gray to her legs and then attempted to put on gw rakarth flesh but for a layer of the coat that matched my regiment’s coats under their blue armour but it didn’t work so I painted gw kantor blue over it and into the gaps going up the undercoat

so yes I see the pistol is wonky but I am not phased because after I am done with the review it I’ll be replacing it with a gw bolt pistol left over from some kit or another later. I then proceeded to mix up a wash with some of the red then put it over the entire coat. for the scarf I used some thin mophiston as a glaze on it (it was too thin when I applied it so I refer as a glaze) then once it dried I applied a layer of citadel screemer pink to the scarf (so yes it looks like I am using all citadel paints but that isn’t going to be the case entirely)

next I touched up underneath the coat (the surface facing the base) and based her face with citadel rakarth flesh. so after I put down the base coat for the face and hair I went back and added a mix of citadel rakarth flesh and citadel steel legion drab to add some shadow

next to my major surprise my attempt at putting lipstick on her succeeded (unlike my priest who’s shouting face makes it hard to do her lips) and I managed to paint in the white of her eyes without issue (I’m not gonna try putting in pupils as it would be too hard for me right now and is un necessary given normal viewing distance) using thinned down citadel corax white. then went back in with rakarth to tidy up and then mixed some citadel troll slayer with rakarth to make a ginger for hair so I can do a ginger haired commissar. I also put down more mophiston on the belt then put down P3 Cygnus Yellow on the trim frill trim for scarf and applied some of the initial leather mix of gw steel legion drab mixed with citadel mophiston to do the gloves and I earlier applied black in the cuffs, I also touched up the flaps on either side of the coat front with mophison ahead of my painting the medals.

Now finally I pulled out the gold metallic (citadel retributor gold put (not spray) put onto paper that will absorb some of it and allows me to get some interesting tones with it when it splits and it also means my wet pallet doesn’t get contaminated (plus metalics seem to hate being thinned

next i did the silver layer using Vallejo model metallic air Aluminum and it’s really coming together now i also did a basic brown leather strap on the back of the coat using citadel steel legion drab, I also cleaned up the red sections of the hat before putting down the silver using both citidel mophiston and citidel khorne red

the main focus for the silver was the weapons, buttons center of the round medal, edges of the metal disk epaulets, buckle, hat icons and some of the gold trim on the coat (I’ll go back over them with retributor i just wanted to lighten the tone of the trim a little and make it brighter

next I touched up the gold trim and eppelet cords with retributor gold, then put a later of citidel balthasar gold on the pistol and on the raised parts on the sword, i then his the sword with the base of a lightening pattern with citidel talassar blue contrast paint that will form the base for lightening on the sword, i also painted talassar blue into the recesses of the pistol and it’s barrels

then I applied citidel ard coat to the hat and sword (probably a mistake to put it on the sword) and downed tools for the night as I had been working on this model for the better part of 10 hours and it was late so i downed tools to return to it the next day. here is a shot of it with the hat still wet

wow does this model look good. I feel kind of bad about my plan to remove the pistol and replace it with a gw one at this point but well these things happen.

now onto the base
– first I put down a layer of milliput which I then textured with a rolled up tinfoil
– second I applied some small rocks (taken from a clumping clay catlitter *note I am talking stuff I skimmed out of the bag and put into a hobby container before using the bag for my cats) and two pieces of broke stone shaped miliput that was left over from doing paved/cobble stone basing for a miniature
– then i pressed the miniature into the base to give her somewhere to stand
it should be noted i doubt i will use miliput on the bases of all my guard infantry as that is simply too much milliput for something that i could do with either hardware store product or glued down sand

and for painting the base here is what i did:
– primed with Vallejo primer then once that was dry i based it with black

– base coat order:
chaos black, then an all over layer of steel legion drab then i painted the raised areas with rakarth flesh and then picked out some rubble pieces with cadian fleshtone to add some terracotta elements to the base as if the commissar was standing amongst urban ruins

And so the model is done and here it is!

for those wanting to see the review on the model you can find the video here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EOrjLd3vHu4&ab_channel=SisterLilia%27sArmoury

hope you liked it and enjoyed the read and video. This model was awesome to paint now if I can just find the missing resin crew member of the bfg and bend the resin replacement boxes back into shape with hot water

Victoria miniatures Sister Preacher Sephima unboxing and progress log

so with the video now going live for the model over on my channel i figured i’d share some shots here of the model in it’s stages and link the video it’s self.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DaN0k0mCTOc&ab_channel=SisterLilia%27sArmoury

so upon unboxing the model it became apparent to me that i was going to have to do some conversion work on it! i wanted the model’s sword and book represented so i decided to make their sword slightly back mounted. now i could have gone and done greenstuff work but i decided against that and just ended up attaching it as is on there. but before i attached it i removed the hand from the chainsword and replaced it with a styrene rod and a plastic skull so as to add more character too it.

so that is the model before painting. here is the model part way through painting

and here is the model with her face looking abit more complete but still wip (i wasn’t willing to hold off on doing the video any longer and honestly at present don’t have the bruses to do the face right (well that aren’t wrecked

if I end up with more of this model I will do other conversions with it including adding an autogun, making a banner or who knows what else but that is for the future, if I do any other orders through victoria miniatures I’ll probably go for a difference character instead of this one as the free mini so as to try more of their range

anyway thanks for reading this far, my next unboxing video will be either my exorcist or vic minis commissar

here is my progress on that commissar:

the ad mech horsemen are just the start! discussing 2021 plans

so upon looking back at my plans for my ad mech army I came to realize some things:
– I am gonna have to do it on a slim budget
– I want most of the army to be converted with the bigger models being heavily converted but done in ways that save me money
– everything needs to be WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) in terms of loadout
– no recast parts but third party is fine
– I have no access to a 3d printers

okay so my plan for 2021 is that once I have got through my sister of battle backlog, done most of the guard projects I have the parts for and got my knight force up to strength (more on them in their own post early next year I am holding off till I have stuff painted to share more on it as it is quite the project) is to do all of the above mentioned things. not yet sure how i aim to do admech skitarii as converted beyond their wasteland bases but some of the conversions i have planned are:
– second feminine magos dominus conversion build which i will record and share the process on

– kitbash built kataprons building them to look like skitarii on motorized mounts with the appropriate gun but also the weapons set up to look kinda like excavation equipment. i think i have found the 3rd party tracks for the job
– skitarii rangers made to look more like stealthy troops
– servitors built from skitarii
– conversion built flyers using the miniatures scenery flyer
– skitarii horsemen conversion build tutorial (and i will show in a video how i painted the units)
take some major cue from Miscast on youtube and do an admech diaries series
– kitbash built vehicles and walkers (more on that later as i get to being able to do it
– conversion built imperial knights using the offical torso but from there a lot of scratch building and conversion building will occur including changing around leg styles to make them say look more chucky or even be tank tracks like some art depicts, some will have offical face masks or modifed offical face masks but other will have scratch built faces with lights in them
– conversion built maniplus with the weapon on back harness
– conversion built ordinatus (if we get 9th ed rules for those at some point)
– building a tech priest cosplay (with the likelihood of masks being a thing for a long time why not take it to the next level and go tech priest to games and limitedly for shopping

the plan is going to be to record the process for some builds and outside of tutorials I will do “ad mech diaries” with it, taking cues from miscast’s nurgle diaries on youtube as I really like his work even if i am not a follower of the ruinous powers or ever plan to be. if my webcam is up to recording some of the painting work I would like to capture some of it and show it but I make no promises there. anyway that’s all for now but i will say that the skirarii riders will likely be part of episode one

grav preacher and order matron (alternative take on junith eritia) update

So almost a year ago I started work on grav pulpit as I wanted to test ideas before making a centerpiece matron on grav pulpit (what junith should have been rather then being a named character) which I got the idea for when I first saw Junith Eritia but initially was concerned the price would be unreasonable for it (i was expecting Celestine price point or worse) and so partly from a budget perspective, partly for love of conversion building I started down the path of making my own with this model as the tester model. while I did start the sister of battle matron but it remains in it’s early stages:

as of yet I have not resumed work on the matron (though I have procured all the conversion parts I need for her) but throughout the year I have done very minor things on the ministorum grav preacher from starting on underslung flamers to finally selecting a crew model that doesn’t lock an out of production metal model to it. so here is where it stands:

I still have more to do on it but it will eventually field it with a ministorum host army (minimal sisters but maximum ministorum assets

anyway that’s all on my ministorum grav pulpits but before i go here is a little tidbit toward my limited ed repentia squad and the 10 model unit i am making from them:

I procured 2 extra limited ed repentia torsos so I could make one into a priest and one into a 9th repentia for my unit of limited edition repentia once my second set of 4 LE repentia arrived using some left over bits from the normal repentia kit. now begins the daunting task of painting them as unlike my arcos i am not painting them as bare skin, but rather as having plug suits (considering the plugs on their skin for their armour to attach to! more on my repentia later

Sister Preacher Sephima (from victoria miniatures) (active log/will be updated later)

so when i got my siege hammer bfg from victoria miniatures (along with some heads) one of the bonus minis i got with it was a priest which after opening i made the decision to kitbash so it could she could have both her book hand and have her chainsword. and while i am doing a video on the model i wanted to share it here.

stock photo

Sister Preacher Sephima

my model:

the model’s unpainted base:
miliput looks weird unpainted and kind of looks like raw biscuits

so while this isn’t a huge conversion it is still pretty neat though i fear the chainsword hilt is too thick (and maybe too long) but no matter i will run with it. now to get this model painted. i will be coming back to this post and updating it later on to show off the painted model but also to include a link to my video where i unbox and review the model (sorry if it feels like i am plugging my yt channel abit here

sisters of battle army offical models update (will be updated in afew days)

So some of you may have noticed my silence with regard to conversion building sisters. In part the stress of the pandemic has sapped a lot of my creativity (especially since i moved house at the end of jan into a much better house) but gradually that creativity has been returned and as my budget increased for a time this year i was able to order a number of sisters of battle units throughout the year some of which i have opened and built (and shown off on the channel) others are awaiting unboxing and will be showing in their own video given time. One of the factors that has slowed my creativity is that it has felt like I am required to record the unboxing and showcase the final work on my youtube channel. with the fact my house mate has been working from home a lot during the pandemic and the last thing i have wanted to catch on camera is the audio of him and his customer so it has resulted in my essentially putting things to the side until now suddenly have a backlog, which as anyone following my page for long enough will know that normally i haven’t had the money for anything more then a painting backlog and had to put together wish lists of projects i wanted to do for when i had the funds to do them or when i gradually procured the components to do them.

so far this year with my sisters of battle i have only really completed:

  • a retributor squad which once i find where one of the models is hiding will be getting two new multi melta members to replace the heavy flamers (though they both need more painting
  • an imagifier:
you can find an unboxing and showcase video on my youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_izs63TH-S0
  • the sister Tariana Palos
unboxing and showcase video is going up this week (will add the link when it is up

essentially for the most part i am trying to paint the models i get after i open them so they don’t sit unpainted indefinitely. that gw has brought in a penalty for unpainted models in the form of a player gaining 10 vp if their entire army is fully painted and based has coincided well with my goal though at the same time i might be shooting myself in the foot doing things this was as it does make it feel more like work then a hobby (which is silly since i do not have enough followers on any/all of my platforms combined to actually make any money out of this hobby. i am also doing custom bases for the entire army YIKES that are hand sculpted from miliput and mostly sculpted on a plastic lid then cut out and transferred onto the model’s base (nothing like making my life hard hay

so units that i am actively painting from the new sisters range right now are:

– two five model battle sister squads from the ten model battle sister kit
(mostly painted but still need custom bases)
– 5 retributors some of which have been reposed using legs and parts procured off ebay to add variety to the unit
– an exorcist that i should have primed in summer when i could have spray primed it rather then brush on primer (atleast i am not using imperial primer)
– thaddius the purifier (mostly primed, i have lost the book off his hand and need to find it before i can continue)
– sister of battle dialogus (mostly painted, just cleaning up details and messy parts)
– limited edition box repentia (note i don’t have the whole limited box i just scored the repentia and the cannoness from it off ebay early in the year. i do also have some more of just the repentia from the limited ed box on the way but no guarantee if they will ever arrive since they are coming from russia) (they have been primed but i lost the mistress of repentance’s backpack much to my annoyance (it’ll turn up eventually if not i can always kitbash her one and save the funky backpack for another model

i do also have number of unopened kits but in the interest of not feeling like i am wealth posting i will not reveal what they are till the time comes for each box but they are for more then just the sisters and not related to what i am about to say

so future plans with sisters of battle stuff include a number of conversion build and doing tutorials using them.
tutorials:
– how i do the bases for the whole sister of battle squad in one go (nothing like a crap ton of work) the title will be something along the lines of “stone street bases for a whole squad tutorial” and will be recorded top down using my webcam (assuming i can light the work area properly)
– reposing retributors tutorial and discussion
– updated eviscerator cannoness conversion video
– procession of martyrs (triumphant of Katherine) conversion build tutorial using the sister of battle squad as the base kit (left over models will be used for other projects
– alternative triumphant conversion builds discussion (which will happen as i conversion build a priestly looking delegation with a crusader champion or some such at the front of the unit
– junith eurittia conversion build video/discussion (i have been recording the process i have been going through to build this model but need to resume work on it now i have all the parts i need
– collecting a sister of battle army: where to start/what to buy (what i recommend at least
– collecting a sister of battle army: how to do it on a budget
– collecting a sister of battle army: how to do it with conversion building and mostly gw parts (including learning new skills and my sharing dressmaking knowledge)
– kitbashing an immolator tutorial (don’t get me wrong the new immolator is stunning but it is way to expensive to have more then one of that model in my army
– kitbashing an exorcist: same story as the immolator though i did get one at the start of the year while i had alittle extra money after moving

anyway thanks for reading. and for my admech fan followers yes i will be sharing more on the skitarii riders soon as I tend to save projects involving greenstuff up to work on them all at once, plus i discovered areas i need to change thing up in with the first unit before i show them on camera

Skitarii horsemen conversion build *on hold project*

so with the upcoming release (they went to preorder as i write this) of new outriders for skitarii forces of the mechanicus i am starting a conversion build of the unit (partly due to the price for 3 models being way too much and partly just for the love of conversion building)

the base models for the horses are the black knights from age of sigmar as i feel they fit the aesthetic of metallic horse perfectly (when painted in metallic tones on the bones)

the upper bodies of the horsemen will be skitarii ranger vanguard kit models with alot of custom kitbashed weapons and some greenstuff work!

So that’s the plan anyway now lets get started on the conversion! now i will mention this here but i am actually going to be recording the whole process of conversion building the models (minus some ground work prep conversion if have done that hasn’t involved cutting anything off the sprues of the two main kits being used in this project) needless to say as this is a pictures and text post the conversions will be posted here before the video goes up due to the fact that i don’t have to do loads of editing to post pics and i can post photos as i go.

the first bit of ground work i have done is go through my large collection of skitarii guns left over from sister of battle conversions see the link here: https://sisterlilia.wordpress.com/category/adeptus-seroritus/

since all the riders have twin phosphor pistols (except the alpha who has a phosphor blast pistol and power maul and anyone with a phosphor blast carbine) it means i need to have some guns for them. now with all the hobby stores closed i am not in a position to go shopping for styrene rods and such to scratch build the pistols so i instead oped to build the pistols like this though i need to remove the upside down sights and shorten the barrels

so since the unit can take one phosphor blast carbine for every three models and it is so much better then twin pistols you can damn well count on me having three such guns in the full unit, I will get five more horsemen after next payday along with other stuff i need from gw (especially a base the same size as the mechanicus bat craft’s base, guess what my next mechanicus project is!?)

so here is my phosphor blast carbines though i am not happy with the lower one. I will when I get up to the stage of green-stuff working on the horsemen go over the joins on the riffle and add some tied on purity sashes

So here is how i am coming along with the horses now, i have hoses running from underneath their back ends (where a tank for phospher is) and the hose comes through a convenient hole below where their necks slot in

with the wire out from the body i actually did this first as a test but well why not upload it next

progress update on the riders. they are now ready for the first round of greenstuff work! as are the horses. the one that is pointing will have his pistol hanging from his belt over a sculpted coat. also at this stage no helmets are glued on and won’t be till final painting stage

So in preparation for doing the greenstuff work for the coats i have but down cling wrap under the riders so i can separate the riders from their mounts for painting i will also need to sticky tacked on the backpacks when i get up to doing the bandannas. the head on the rider in the above photo is a temporary head as i don’t want to damage the main head while i am working on the greenstuff work for him. In fact at this stage all their heads are sticky tacked in so i can remove them to paint after the bandannas are made

please check back later for more on this project! I will be update it till the project is done (then update it once more after that with the models painted up) i will also update the title image after the project is done so as to better highlight the project

thank you for reading

my ministorum army moving forward

so today i am wanting to talk about my plans moving forward for my ministorum forces, particularly my non sisters forces under the ministorum bracket. i am planning on running them as their own force with maybe afew sisters to do things like hold objectives until such a time as fraternis milita are a legitimate thing again

warlord: Arch confessor and demagogue of the emperor Tagalon Vorkus
DSCN9240

so instead of actually fielding the junith eritia model i will be fielding my preacher pulpit conversion as an army warlord

  • priests: so once i am in a position to get the base models i will be sourcing more models to make missionaries and preachers with that will fill hq and elites slot requirements along side any named priests i source (i do aim to get jackobus and i do aim to set up a priest to count as arch confessor kynerov and i do want to get hold of the rather horizontally enhanced priest from blackstone fortress
  • the muscle
so the main strength of a ministorum army is it’s infantry that was formerly limited to a bodyguard unit up until the imperial agents codex in 7th. so while i do plan on still continuing with my arco flagrant conversions in the background i am seriously considering just biting the bullet and buying arcos through an independant stockist who will knock the price down by a segnificant ammount (since i live in aus) though i will still be going ahead with getting more dark elf wyches to turn into deathcult assassins but here is what i am honestly thinking for my ministorum

    – 3 ten model arco flagrant squads (why not sent the penitant hoards at the enemy
    – 18 crusaders the blessed shieldwall will be of great use even if it is just to soak sniper rounds
    – 15 death cult assassins honestly for me deathcult assassins are the weakest of the elite choices for the ministorum
    – Shield Captain Arctoria Von Malcavor (counts as gotfret de montbard)
    – flamer/chainsword zealot from blackstone (or more likely a converted model to count as it as i feel the model is too well armoured for it’s crappy rules
    – as many penitent engines as i can reasonably run!

so essentially i will pick and choose what parts i need when i go to build a list but i will be taking a hoard aproach to the ministorum forces though it may be a penitent hoard most of the time with crusaders taken as bodyguards for the priests to keep them alive in a sniper filled meta

  • BOLTER ESCORTS – ORDER SABINE
so lore wise the sisters who travel with this contingent have a two fold role to protect the priests but also to infiltrate into primative cultures and enlighten them about the emperor. this informs what i will have as part of their force as realisticly they are are support force rather then the bulk of it

so to actually run ministorum forces i will need to have atleast afew squads of sisters most of the time i aim for them to be pain bolter squads of minimum strength as really their only role is holding objectives not engaging the enemy so at most i will give them maybe a heavy bolter or storm bolter for their unit
    – dialogus
    – imagifier
    – 3 to 5 battle sister squad (each squad is 5 members strong)

for these squads i am seriously tempted to convert models to be covered in long ponchos and great cloaks to cover their armour. note that i won’t be modifying existing sisters for this detachment

  • retribution detachment: so in contrast to the above forces this detachment would be it’s own detachment that would actually use knights. beyond maybe my paladin i can’t say what this detachment would entail though i am not above scratch building ministorum looking knights just for this detachment. i will reveal more on that later

so anyway this is the plan from this point onward with my ministorum hopefully i can actually make it happen and get in some games with them once things are back to normal after the nurgle plagues have abated and we can all start going out

my new retributor squad: Squad Agetha

so at present of the 2020 sisters of battle releases the only things i have bought are: an exorcist (wow are those overpriced) and a retributor squad (which should have had more weapons in the box for the price)
DSCN9703

so the longer term plan with the unit is for them to become a dedicated multi melta squad however due to gw’s current business model the retributor kit only comes with two multi meltas so i chose to build the other two models in the kit with heavy flamers and i will second them over to a future heavy flamer retributor squad (well my second heavy flamer squad)

so i did add abit more paint to the models before i showed them off in the video but i need better paints and painting equipment then the stuff i currently have for painting more models.

for anyone interested in seeing the unboxing and build of this squad i have a video of it on my youtube:

so I also have an exorcist part way through construction and when it is done and painted i will be sharing the finished model and my review, unboxing and build video of it (all in one video not in like three) after i have completed that project i will get to doing my sisters of battle junith eritia conversion build

thank you all for reading i look forward to sharing more in future

Ministorum crusaders: a change of plans and a new path

so as some of you will remember i did this conversion afew years ago:
crusader
then followed it up by building another 10 in the same style (with varying swords that were more chosen based on availability)
squad agis full

so as some of you will know with the 2019/2020 sister of battle codex crusaders as a unit got changed around from being a 2 model min to 10 model max unit (in the beta codex, index and 7th ed imperial agents dex) to being a 2 to 6 models unit in the new codex which i loathe as it means I can only field about half of the number of crusaders per a “legal” army thanks to the accursed rule of three. but as with all the rules changes to 40k I am forced to adapt (or stick to an older rule-set that requires luck in finding a player that uses it when i already struggle to get games) so here is how i am going to be running them from this point forward (unless i run crusaders under the old beta codex rules)

first off: my plan is to run them mostly in 5 model units (there is something about a 6 model unit that feels odd to me) and run between one to three squads of them in my armies when i run ministorum focused armies (ministorum could really use some non sisters troops)

second: I will be turning half of what was squad two with the same style of shields that squad one are equipped with. as for the other half of the old squad 2 I will be putting them to the side till i get around to doing the stained glass storm shields for them at some point this year and i intend to build another 10 crusaders to go with that collection to field with that other five so i can field 15 crusaders with one style of shield and depending on where i play (my local gw manager is a prick when it comes to third party bits

anyway thanks for reading
